"Prototype communication and control system between a user-agent at a remote location and a home appliance via WAP"

Final year project by Demetrios Lambrou (University of Plymouth)

Abstract
This project focuses on the design of a distributed application communication system that integrates into the current trend of Web appliances. The system will provide remote access control of home appliances from a WAP enabled device. This project is not aimed to be a full working end product. It is a prototype design for further development.

This paper will also provide guidelines to system designers who want to build an embedded distributed application control system. The primary aim of this project is to design and implement a prototype of a distributed application system that provides two-way communications between a WAP enabled device or a web browser, and a LED, which simulates an electrical appliance.
